Energy from Exhaust

Image
The scientist from Washington state university, Prof. Yi Gu, invented in the field of thermoelectric, the use of converted heat to generate alternative forms of energy.           The device is multicomponent, multilayered composite material called “van der Waals Schottky Diode”. This device converts heat into electricity upto three times more efficient than silicon.           In 1820 Thomas Johann Seebeck discovered that temperature difference between two dissimilar electrical conductor or semiconductor are in contact produce electromotive force or voltage, this is because change in temperature causes electron to jump from hot side to cold side and form current. This effect is called SEEBECK EFFECT.           In electronics world, Schottky diodes are used to guide electricity in a specific direction, similar to how a valve in a water main directs the flow of liquid going through it. They are made by attaching a conductor metal like aluminum to a semiconductor material l

SuperCars!!!

“It’s a never ending battle of making your cars better and also trying to be better yourself” A supercar is a luxury, high-performance sports car.  The term is used in marketing by automakers for unusual and expensive vehicles, and has been used to refer to different sorts of cars: Limited-production specials from a specific autobuilder. Simple looking cars modified as per the requirements of the user for unbelievable power and performance Models from smaller manufacturers that appeal to enthusiasts One-of-a-kind "showcase" project vehicles built by custom car retrofitters (usually extensively modified collectible muscle cars or grand tourers updated to the latest "streetable" racing technology). An advertisement for a high-performance car similar to the Bentley Speed Six, appeared in The Times for 11 November 1920 with the phrase "If you are interested in a supercar, you cannot afford to ignore the claims of this supercar”. The Oxford English Dicti

Perpetual Motion Machines

Last time we talked about Time Crystals which are a form of perpetual motion machines. So what exactly are perpetual motion machines and why do we keep searching and learning about them? Perpetual motion machines are machines which basically do not follow the laws of thermodynamics and can do work without requiring any energy. It sounds impossible right?  But some of the greatest scientists have given much of their time in producing such a machine as it would lead to a world where we do not need any energy source but can get unlimited energy. The concept of a perpetual machine is believed to have taken seed from the renowned mathematician Bhaskara’s views about perpetual motion. He sketched a wheel with curved reservoirs in which Mercury was filled in equal proportions and allowed to flow. Now the reason behind it was that as the mercury would flow and as the wheel would start rotating, it would never stop as the mercury will flow downwards in subsequent reservoirs and d

Time Crystal- A Perpetual Motion Machine

Since the inception of  humankind, we have been finding a way to achieve everything for free and a huge amount of time and resources had been invested to gain the energy without any cost. In this world of Science and Technology, we have been able to discover a lot many matters and crystal structures having symmetry across space but recently, scientists and researchers have discovered a crystal having symmetry not only across the space but across time too. They have named it as “Time Crystal” .  Don’t get fooled by thinking that time crystal to be a time travelling crystal but this state of matter has got some awesome kind of properties. Generally all the matter are motion less at its resting state and only possess kinetic energy when some short of energy is applied to it. As for example a cricket ball remains in steady state unless and until the bowler throws the ball. But the interesting thing about the time crystal is that they keep moving even in their ground state or resting

Augmentation technologies in Automobiles

Due to excess use of non-renewable resource which are reducing day by day have presented a requirement to provide excellent fuel efficiency and superb performance automobile. There are few technologies which are used by the automobile manufacturers. We all are very aware about their names but let's see the technologies behind them. I-VTEC (intelligent variable valve timing and lift electronic control) I-VTEC is the latest modern technology in VTEC development, which combines the features of VTEC and VTC (variable timing control). Due to this combination fuel economy, ample torque, and clean emissions can be obtained. A VTEC controls the intake valve timing and lift , where as the VTC controls the valve overlap timing. In I-VTEC, I stands for intelligent where it can control both, camshaft duration and valve lift, not only change the valve timing for the exhaust and induction strokes. Currently Honda has adopted I-VTEC in its large capacity four cylinder petrol engines, in
