The Impossible Drive
The
Impossible Drive: - Engine Working Without Fuel
“Absolutely
Not Possible!” YES it would be the first thing that comes in
our
mind after reading the title. But it is the truth that we are talking
about
and there is active research going on. Up
till now we have been
using vehicle’s which work on hydrocarbon, bio-fuel,
Electricity or some
another source. With increase in technology it is now
possible to use
fuel-less engines.
The impossible EM (Electro-Magnetic)
Drive also known as “radio
frequency (RF) resonant cavity thruster” first found out by Roger
Shawyer, is a drive working without
any fuel propulsion while
moving because of the photons colliding in the cylinder,
controversial
propulsion system really does work and is capable of
generating
impressive thrust that is 1.2 millinewtons per kilowatt in
vacuum. It
offers the incredible possibility of a fuel-free propulsion
system that
could potentially get us to Mars in just 70 Days and To
the Moon in just hours!
As EM drive works without any propellants it violates the
third law of
Newton which is that every action has equal and opposite
reaction. It
uses electromagnetic waves as 'fuel', creating thrust by
bouncing
microwave photons back and forth inside a cone-shaped closed
metal
cavity. That motion causes the 'pointy end' of the EM Drive
to generate
thrust, and propel the drive in the opposite direction the
setup of this
engine is small as compare to other engine.
Last year, NASA’S Eaglework Laboratory got involved to
try to
independently verify or debunk the EM Drive once and for all.
And a new paper on its tests in late 2015 , shows that
not only does the
EM Drive work - it also generates some pretty impressive
thrust.
With the help of this engine now we are able to generate
around 1.2
millinewtons per kilowatt in vacuum which is enough to drive a
space
shuttle.
