Faster than the Fastest production car of the world

One thing about which almost every sports car freak is crazy is their mind-blowing speed. It doesn't matter if you could ever achieve that speed on road or not but you'd always desire to boast those numbers among your friends and groups. So fellas, what do you think? Which car should be the fastest car? Well, you might be thinking about the Bugatti Veyron Super-sport or the newly unveiled Chiron. But actually, it's not the case. They hold the record of the fastest production car according to the Guinness Book of World Records officially but the “Hennessey Venom GT” by Hennessey Performance Engineering is unofficially the fastest car at a whopping speed of “270.49 MPH”.

Yeah you read it right. It's 435.11 km/h. To make a claim for Guinness Record for fastest production car the company has to at least make 30 cars, while the company has decided to make only 29 cars which is a bit funny. And this company does not make the whole car, they just tune the engine and make some modifications to the body so they can make the car sustain the speed. For Venom GT they modified the British car Lotus Exige. They kept the chassis mostly of the Lotus but tweaked the engine.

The engine is twin turbocharged 427 cu in (7.0 L) GM LSX engine which is reinforced with special parts like internal components and additional head bolts including twin precision dual ball bearing turbochargers. The engine power is adjustable by three settings of 800 bhp, 1000 bhp and the maximum of 1244 bhp which is quite extraordinary. The mid-engine V8 is mated to the rear wheels with a Ricardo 6-speed manual transmission, which was also used in Ford GT. Computational Fluid Dynamics helps the car to be stable at such high speeds.
And they are not stopping there. They have claimed and are planning to make their own car with everything of their own. The Hennessey F5 which is a reference to the F5 Tornado on Fujita Scale. The car is claimed to near the “300 mph” barrier or even break it which in itself is a big thing.
So what do they do to make a car faster than what it was made for?
It is something called Engine Tuning. Engine tuning is an adjustment, modification of the internal combustion engine, or modification to its control unit, otherwise known as its ECU (Engine Control Unit). It is adjusted to get the maximum juice out of the engine, to get the maximum power output, economy or durability. Performance tuning focuses on tuning the engine for motorsports and high-performance cars. To get more power, the more air-fuel mixture is put into the engines, by increasing compression ratio which requires using higher octane fuels, burning it more rapidly and removing the waste more rapidly. This increases the volumetric efficiency. There are many ways to get the maximum power output from the engine.
Of late the Hennessey Performance Engineering has been surrounded by some legal problems and we can only hope that they sort it out and keep breaking the barriers to create new ones.

So that’s it for today, folks. Keep “Tuning In” for further articles and we will make sure that you get the desired “Output”.

  1. Good invention and Yes, technology is developing in terms of speed. Almost automobile companies are trying to overcome limitations in terms of speed. But it is not enough. Because after 30-40 years, diesel powered cars will be useless due to lack of crude oil. We need more faster developments in companies like Hyperloop and Tesla which depends on non-conventional fuels.
